Natural Dyes for Easter Egg Coloring

Ditch the Dyes!
Eggs have long-been associated with spring and a symbol of fertility and new life for many traditions. If you celebrate Easter, instead of artificial dyes, try coloring your eggs with natural dyes from food.

Bring each ingredient (separately) to a boil with 2 cups of water, then strain the colored water into a cup and let it cool. Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar to each cup of dye to 'fix' the color, and then dip the egg into the cup, leaving it in until it reaches the desired color.

Gold: Handful of yellow onion skins
Yellow: 2 tablespoons turmeric or a handful of carrot tops
Green: Handful of coltsfoot
Blue: 2 cups chopped red cabbage
Pink: 2 cups chopped beets
Purple: 1 cup frozen blueberries
Brown: 2 tablespoons coffee grounds or 4 black tea bags

What are your favorite natural dyes?
